    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend this course because English is a necessary course to take for all courses. You need to take English because reading and writing skills are necessary outside of the class too. English applies to math and science as well, since you need to be able to read instructions in order to answer the question. Furthermore, you might have a better chance of getting hired if you're able to read and write, since you will be able to articulate. Good readers and writers tend to be more expressive and better at communicating.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the skills I was taught. Ms. Hanna showed me that there was much more to literature than text and fiction. They tend to illustrate a deeper meaning, which often applies to real life. Many characters or plots in literature symbolize ideas ranging from women's rights, immorality, and religion. Due to this, I can analyze texts better by digging deeper. Furthermore, my abilities as a writer have improved quite a lot. There's more structure and cohesiveness to my work now.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Aside from learning how to write much better, I learned that hard work certainly pays off. If you really want something, you have to push yourself to the limits even if you want to give up. There's always room for improvement, no matter how small or little. I understand that English isn't everyone's forte, but it is not impossible to improve your reading and writing skills. It is difficult to start, but taking baby steps will help. As long as you continue to try, you will realize that it wasn't really that bad in the first place. I assure you, even if you didn't try as hard, what matters is that you did try and you will continue to work a little harder each time. Every time you want to give up, push yourself ten times harder to stay on top of the reading assignments, edit your essays, and ask for help. It is so important to let go of whatever is restricting you and ask for help.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class to other students because even though it was an online class, Ms. Larsen was highly interactive. The readings were all good and I enjoyed every one of them. Although taking English 1B online is very demanding, Ms. Larsen made the work load bearable by adjusting the due dates for some of the assignments just to make sure everyone in the class got the chance to submit their work.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course was definitely the readings and interacting with classmates who have different ideas and interpretations of each reading. I learned that seeing things in other people's perspective is a lot like reading a book.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are planning to take English 1B online, be prepared to set aside 3-5 hours to do the work. Do not underestimate the challenges of taking online classes because it can get tough when you miss deadlines.
