    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend this course because English is a necessary course to take for all courses. You need to take English because reading and writing skills are necessary outside of the class too. English applies to math and science as well, since you need to be able to read instructions in order to answer the question. Furthermore, you might have a better chance of getting hired if you're able to read and write, since you will be able to articulate. Good readers and writers tend to be more expressive and better at communicating.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the skills I was taught. Ms. Hanna showed me that there was much more to literature than text and fiction. They tend to illustrate a deeper meaning, which often applies to real life. Many characters or plots in literature symbolize ideas ranging from women's rights, immorality, and religion. Due to this, I can analyze texts better by digging deeper. Furthermore, my abilities as a writer have improved quite a lot. There's more structure and cohesiveness to my work now.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Aside from learning how to write much better, I learned that hard work certainly pays off. If you really want something, you have to push yourself to the limits even if you want to give up. There's always room for improvement, no matter how small or little. I understand that English isn't everyone's forte, but it is not impossible to improve your reading and writing skills. It is difficult to start, but taking baby steps will help. As long as you continue to try, you will realize that it wasn't really that bad in the first place. I assure you, even if you didn't try as hard, what matters is that you did try and you will continue to work a little harder each time. Every time you want to give up, push yourself ten times harder to stay on top of the reading assignments, edit your essays, and ask for help. It is so important to let go of whatever is restricting you and ask for help.
