    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The teacher I had was very knowledgeable. Since this class will probably be a student's first science class in college, it is important to build a strong foundation with a good teacher.

    Course highlights:

I learned a plethora amount about genetics. It is very interesting learning about hereditary diseases and traits that are passed on from parent to child.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Take more time studying. The more you understand the material, the better.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I find Biology fascinating. The inner workings of life are so beautiful I liken it to a painting fit for the Lourve. Organisms are so fragile and require such precise conditions it's amazing how life all came together to sustain our environment. Learning about cellular makeup and the specialization they serve within living species is remarkable. Over millions of years life has adapted to ever changing stimuli due to an inherent need for survival, which for the non-extinct organisms has been very successful.

    Course highlights:

In a course like General Biology there is a wide variety of information to take in and depending on what career path you are looking towards there will be some information that sticks with you easier. Myself being a pre-med student, I took more notice of cellular respiration, protein structure and mitosis/meiosis due to the relevance of where I'm headed. However, topics including taxonomy, zoology, and plant life are other components that are also very interesting. I was able to learn about all these topics and excel in the course by always going to class with an open mind ready to learn about anything because you never know when you might be able to use information at a later date aside from just being prepared for the next test.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice to any future students taking this course would be to first and foremost be sure to show up in addition to participating. Being that it is a first year science course and a lot of students are transitioning out of high school into college, there is a chance for priorities to fall out of whack. College is a lot of fun but at the same time you are now an adult and time management will be key. Homework for this course was due before every lecture and while the final grade percentage based on homework may not be huge it is this practice that prepares you for the tests that are worth more than half of your final grade. Studying is also going to be essential just as it will be for any other course. Biology is a subject that contains a lot of information so breaking your studies down into smaller more frequent goal oriented sessions can have much more benefcial results without putting too much stress into trying an all night "cram-session." I believe any student can succeed at this course as long as it is taken seriously and when there is something not being understood it is imperative to seek assistance immediately before falling behind. However, once again, as an adult now it is your responsibility to seek out this help if it is needed and it would be unethical for me to give off the impression that professors are going to continuously chase down students and beg them to do their homework.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course to others because it is a very interactive and hands on course. Hands on is one of the best ways to learn and retain information. Anyone that enjoys science I highly recommend to them.

    Course highlights:

My highlights in this course were what I did through the Drosophila lab, which is studying genetics through the incubation of fruit flies. I learned that some genetic traits are only carried within the gender of the fruit flies.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Always be paying attention and studious throughout the course. Be prompt and prepared and always take notes.
