Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because I feel it really prepares students to give a variety of speeches on different subjects. I also feel it is a good way to prepare nursing students, like me, to better communicate with their patients because this course teaches you how to organize and present your thoughts in a very professional manner.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the speeches we gave and listened to from our fellow classmates. I also enjoyed the assignments that walked us through how a speech should be organized. In this course I learned how to give a very well organized and interesting speech to an audience. I also learned techniques to help reduce some of the anxiety that often goes along with public speaking.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The advice I would give to other students considering this course would be to make sure that you don't put off doing the assignments that help you develop your speech. I would also recommend that they practice their speech multiple times prior to delivering their speech to the class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

In this generation, everyone has been hurt by social media. Many do not know how to communicate much less than to speak publically. This course makes students get out of their comfort zone like never before and prepares them for the real world instead of a fake one.

    Course highlights:

I gained from this course confidence when speaking to larger groups. It has never been easy for me to give presentations, but this course made me face my fears and gave me some good advice on how to do so.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would suggest that before giving a public speech, to calm your nerves. Just to remember that you know the information, your audience is just people too, and to just talk to them like you would as if it was only one person in the room. Also, most important in my case is to take your time and to not lose your breath.
