    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Shaw is an excellent person to take this course with. The course was taught in a way that was engaging, memorable, and informative. I still recall interesting facts from this class about early art and use find myself using them when looking at art now. Symbolism, and finding common threads in each piece of art, made it fun to date and classify what at first seemed like a daunting task.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part of the class was learning the historical implications and reasons behind things as simple as the colors and materials used in different eras. There is so much more of a story when you learn what went into making a piece of art, and the social and political variables that influenced them. Shaw taught me amazing study skills for memorization that have helped tremendously in other classes.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make flash cards, read the material, pay attention, show up to class, ask questions, even if you think they not "good" will learn.
