Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The passion she has for Sociology is admirable. She shows up everyday really wanting to students to enjoy this subject. It is a little challenging for an intro course but she really wants you to be into the class. You read a lot of article about different sociological experiments and has wonderful ta's who help with anything and everything. Her tests are nice they are not tradition multiple choice either, she has some short answer and some essay questions. Her homework assignments which is due roughly once a week, are writing about yourself and what you're learning in class.

    Course highlights:

It is only the beginning of the semester so we have not learned all of the course material but my favorite so far is learning about emotion. We have learned about the emotions you have at job have to deal with social rules and how you are supposed to be. You also learn that the attitude you are pretending to have at work can start to become your actual mood. Kind of like the saying "fake it 'till you make it"

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Attendance is mandatory so definitely showing up to class. Taking detailed notes on what she is saying and also writing everything posted on the slides, she does not upload them after class. For every one of her tests she releases a study guide which is roughly like the actual exam , just not as detailed so focus on those questions. Also, read the articles she posted she does not make you annotate them but her tests trick you into seeing if you have read them.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This class is a phenomenal class. The instructor is funny, knowledgeable and knows what she is talking about. I learned so much from this class, and what I took from it extends beyond school and affects my view on life as well.

    Course highlights:

I learned so much about the world and people and how the world treats people. It made me evaluate my own life and have compassion for others. This class opened my eyes to the oppression that still exists today and how it affects me and my place in the social stratification system. This professor got me fired up for human rights and social activism. She cares so much and has so much to say, it carried over to the students as well, especially during such a crucial election year.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Always keep up on the reading, it is often discussed in class. Also, always do the New York Times assignment, it's easy points and helps you think about the world critically. She doesn't assign too much difficult work but it can pile up if you put it off.
