This class was tough.
Recommending this class because the subject of media and mass communication is something that we are surrounded with and as the semester went on my interest grew. The amount of work allowed me to be more interested with the subject since it forced me to read the material the professor assigned but allowed me to plan the semester out ahead of time of parts that I want to focus and spend more time on.
The course tackles many elements of what messages are being told through media and mass communications. The class was not like any other class I attended that talked about what we see in magazine's or what stereotypes are seen in media but rather talk about as an audience our perception of the messages and broke down the tools corportations or others use to make us think this way. I was tasked as a research project something I did not know was possible to do in a classroom where I had to try and make a meme. This assignment was not just a highlight of the course but a highlight to my career in college. My presentation was in a way that you would see someone presenting ideas on a Youtube page and I read much more for this assignment than any other assignment for any other class because of how interested I was in something that in unconventional in normal class setting. Being assigned to something that I was actually interested in made me more willing to learn and participate in discussions and have discussions outside of the classroom of what I learned.

Advice for students:
Be open minded. the material is very interesting if you are a person who askes questions for why things are and is. Much of your perceptions of media and other forms of communications might be true but you will learn something about yourself, the people around you, and how media makes you percieve things you were not aware of. The discussion in the class can be applied to real life and their will be a subject that you will find interesting and can explore that further.
