Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The reading assignments are very long. The professor would point out minor details from the stories in class. He would bring up daily experiences that people may go through to explain concepts.

    Course highlights:

I learned that the Bible plays a huge role in American culture, the difference between Judaism and Christianity, and how messages and portrayals of characters change when writers include their own interpretations in sharing the stories.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I suggest skimming through reading assignments because there is too much material to cover but having some knowledge of what is in the texts helps in writing the final essays and makes class discussions more fun.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

At SMC you have to take this class. I ended up needing to take something else at this time so I don't remember who I had. They were passionate about the topic so it helped me enjoy the class until I had to change my schedule. I hope that this professor keeps teaching because I felt like they were passionate about the subject even if people didn't like the class since it requires heavy reading. While heavy reading isn't something I particularly enjoy it is important for this class.

    Course highlights:

An understanding of the bible comes in handy at SMC for seminar courses since sometimes biblical references are made by the text, classmates, or even certain professors. Although I did not finish this class it did help because then I was able to understand references made in Seminar. TRS 97 is offered by a wide range of professors at different times and every semester making it an easy class to switch in and out of your schedule.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you do the reading or you may be lost in this class though. Making a list of all the different people and places is something I would find largely important. Otherwise you may end up being lost or confused. I would recommend forming a study group if you have limited knowledge of the bible so you are able to discuss it with others or if you like and feel comfortable talk to your professor and go to his or her's office hours. Also note different teachers have different approaches of the bible.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Brother Mark is an amazing teacher and is very passionate about what he teaches.

    Course highlights:

I learned way more in this class than I ever had in Sunday School. I loved learning about our descendants and how everything lead up to God's plan to bring Jesus into our lives having Him be the salvation of the human race.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read! Read everything more than once, it really helps. Brother Mark is more than happy to help if you are struggling, but if you read and pay attention in class than you should be fine!
