    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is required for Biochemistry majors, however, it provides students with a great, in-depth and introductory, hands-on approach into learning the basic principles of biochemistry in the classroom and in the laboratory.

    Course highlights:

A definite highlight of this course are the two 5 hours lab session that occur per week. Learning biochemical concepts and procedures are better understood in application. These lab sessions provide students with time and resources to fine-tune ones technical skills. In addition, Dr. Morand truly wants his students to succeed which is evident in how he lectures, engages with students during lab, and willingness to help students during and beyond his office hours.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise students to ALWAYS attend class, to not hesitate to ask question during lecture or office hours, and to make use of any extra time in lab to ameliorate lab skills. It can be easy to fall behind in reading and exercises, so I would encourage students to make it a priority to get in at least 2 hours of studying for this course, per day.
