    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Thomases is so knowledgeable and really tries to make the big idea clear before she gets into the technical "mathy" stuff. Her lectures are focused on the big picture; go to her office hours for more traditional instruction on how to actually work through the problems.

    Course highlights:

Overall this course is a pretty good introduction to Calculus, but I would have been lost if I hadn't taken Calculus in high school. I did learn a lot of the big picture/applications to real life.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the pre-assignments! Often the quizzes have the same problems on them.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The group discussion problems were extremely difficult and required the use of R-studio.

    Course highlights:

There were a lot of derivatives, graphs, and word problems.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely do the prefecture problems and attend lectures.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Sornborger, is a physics professor, thus the problems that we uses in class might be a bit confusing. The MAT 17 series is geared for students going towards health/science/pre-med, but since Professor Sornborger has a physics degree, he can sometimes get confused with his lectures, and his explaining can be a bit confusing. But all in all, he's a great professor with an awesome personality. He is definitely willing to talk and help you out when you approach him.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course, aside from learning, was Professor Sornborger getting frustrated the notes that he needed to teach the students. Seeing him frustrated and cracking jokes here and there gave a lot the students a good laugh, and ultimately in a good mood during the lectures.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely attend lectures, and discussions. Take your quizzes seriously because the finals and midterm are pretty hard.
