    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This professor does not really lecture. This class is more of a self-study. You will need to read the textbook and look for online resources. Her exams are difficult.

    Course highlights:

You go in depth with biomolecules, DNA, genetics.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to read chapters before lectures. Make sure from the first day, you stay on top of the material and attend workshops. Go to TA office hours.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course has interesting material, but Professor Singer isn't the best lecturer. He typically goes off on tangents about the topic that are unnecessary; however, the TA's are great in clarifying any confusion. All students that are planning to major in any major included in the college of biological sciences are required to take this course so it's better to get it over with sooner than later.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course would definitely be the midterm review sessions held a couple days before the midterm. They were very helpful because they went over general topic ideas discussed in lectures. I learned a lot about central dogma and how energy is taken in to power the daily functions of life.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to be independent and self-study. There's no way that you're going to be able to get higher than a C in the class by just simply attending lectures and discussions. Quality time must be dedicated to reading the book and taking notes.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If you can avoid it don't take Bis 2A as it is one of the most frustrating courses you will experience in Davis. It is very conceptual and you are left on your own for studying.

    Course highlights:

The content of the course was interesting, as it focused on genetics.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Try to do as much as you can for this course, and study it wvery day.
