    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Although many people (myself included!) were daunted by the amount of work that was necessary, I have no regrets about having taken this class. Much of what you learn is integral to understanding the scientific curriculum here at Davis. This course gave me such a good understanding of basic chemistry that I've directly benefitted from this course in almost every class I've taken since.

    Course highlights:

The lessons and readings were well-planned out, the lectures themselves were informative, interactive, and often fun! The tests were difficult, but always fairly reflected the curriculum. The classroom was an active, buzzing room full of discussion and debate. It's difficult to feel like you're learning something on your own when you're constantly working with your peers and teaching assistants. Oh, and the labs were AWESOME!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the readings! Do the practice quizzes! Get to know your TA! Exchange numbers with at least one classmate, and get together to do the practice exams before the tests. And try for some passion; f you love this subject one-tenth as much as Professor Uvarov does, you'll be fine.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

He is a great professor! He is very thorough in teaching and he breaks down ideas in ways I was able to understand. I have had another chemistry professor and did more of "just look at page..." instead of actually teaching and I feel like I understand the topic after he has explained them.

    Course highlights:

The warm up every morning. we take material from previous topics and then review them together with helps the material stick in my head. During this time you are also able to ask a lot of questions and he will answer them until everyone understands.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure so study/ review your lessens at least 30 min per day so that you solidify what you have learned.
