    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would not recommend it as a fun class since it was very rigorous and time consuming in terms of study time. This course was required for a major and it is followed by ABI 103 in the series.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course was having Professor Calvert trying to make jokes out of the material. As it was biochemistry, it was funny trying to have him explain a cycle or process so complex and confusing to us in terms that we would understand.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Draw out the cycles numerous times and try to understand the theory behind them. Go to office hours, and read the book!

    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Really take the time to understand the material. Spending time looking at your notes and reviewing daily definitely helped me understand the bigger scope of the class.

    Course highlights:

Calvert's energy definitely made waking up for an 8am class everyday worth it.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

STUDY. DAILY. and don't procrastinate! This class is dense!

    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Animal biochemistry was one of my favorite classes at UC Davis, even if it was one of the most challenging classes I've ever taken. I appreciated the integration of biology and chemistry within the human body, understanding what happens when we eat bread (carbohydrate) and tracking it through the body as it is digested, absorbed, and used for energy but the body.

    Course highlights:

Truly understanding the interactions and the intricacies of biochemistry in applicable terms.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Practice. It it's still taught the same, I had to practice writing out all the reactions and chemical structures.
