Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Gina Bloom makes this class so interesting and challenging (in the best way). Her writing assignments are interesting and guided enough that even a junior (like me) will find their writing improving dramatically. Finally, the works themselves are so rich with material and wordplay that I found it impossible not to enjoy them.

    Course highlights:

My writing went from a solid A to an A+ in this course. I pushed myself, with professor Bloom's help, to work hard on my papers and strive to evaluate my own flaws. Furthermore, I learned so much about the history of monarchs and religion and their relationship to literature.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read. Read and read some more. Make sure that you allow yourself to spend time with the text, pick out important quotes/words/phrases to bring to class. This course is heavy on discussion, so make sure you have something to discuss - even a question that you want answered! Finally, when you write for this course, really and truly evaluate your writing and your weaknesses & strengths. It is so valuable to push yourself out of your comfort level and go that extra mile.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Dolan is an awesome teacher. Her lectures are very engaging and her grading is fair. Just don't procrastinate on her papers. She can grade harshly on those, but if you put in the time you should get the grade you want.

    Course highlights:

Group discussions were always interesting. The 6-8 page research paper was a lot. However, if you take the time, go to office hours and don't do it on the last day that is very doable.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You should really engage with the reading material. Mark everything up and that will help you when you need to use one of those materials for a paper.
