    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

For an introductory class in psychology, it was well-structured and broad-enough to spark my interest in taking more psychology classes. Professor Thompson is very nice and found ways to make psychology sound fascinating! He is one of the best professors I've had in UC Davis! It was obvious how passionate he is about the subject. His research and even his anecdotes were helpful in understanding concepts across. The professor is well-informed on the most recent research in the field of psychology and he was able to answer all questions. This class helped me understand the human mind a bit better and I highly recommend taking this class for anyone who anyone curious about psychology. This class is a great starter and is a prerequisite for almost all other psychology classes one may be interested in.

    Course highlights:

One of the highlights of the course was learning what some parts of the brain do and what damage can affect what function. It adds insight into why head injuries are treated so heavily. It is also interesting learning how cognition and emotion work. Yet, there is much about the brain we have yet to discover, but so far you learn to appreciate it.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the homework assignments. They are not hard and they will likely be on the exams. Professor Thompson also podcasted his lectures and those are useful to listen to if you missed something he said. He also provides practice tests for the exams as well as study guides to prepare. Do them! Also, don't be afraid to ask him questions! Professor Thompson is always happy to talk with students.
