Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course as an introductory chemistry course in college because Professor Harman is extremely generous in his grading system and prepares us very well for the midterm and final examinations. As long as you are keeping up on the reading outside of class and properly completing the weekly assigned homeworks, you should be doing just fine in the class.

    Course highlights:

In high school, I didn't have a positive experience in chemistry and had no background at all while entering college. Professor Harmon went through the basics of chemistry before going into harder topics, easing the path for people like me, who were being introduced to such concepts for the first time.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

If you plan on taking Chemistry 001A at UCR, I highly recommend trying to get Professor Harmon's class because he teaches at a good pace, and also understands the pressure we face, giving us a little leeway for mistakes.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I hated chemistry in high school, but when I took this course chemistry became one of my favorite subjects. It's fun to get to do actual experiments and learn how chemistry is a part of our everyday lives.

    Course highlights:

I learned all about the atom and how it was discovered. I learned things that relate to our everyday lives such as how energy is produced and processed.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to do the homework because the problems from there are similar to that on the exams. Also, make sure to go to class because if you do miss one lecture, you will miss out on a lot.
