Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

At a large university notorious for having professors that engage more with their research than their students, Green is very much a teacher. She is very available with many office hours, she explains concepts well and is very fair when it comes to testing. She is understanding and sympathetic to students and truly wants all students to succeed.

    Course highlights:

Math 3A is basic introductory calculus, going up to derivatives. As a student who had never taken AP Calculus, I was terrified of my peers who had experience with the material and did not struggle. Greene was very understanding of my situation and always was patient with my during office hours. The material itself was interesting and the 3 series always attempts to relate back to biology to drive home the message that the math you learn is relevant. It is not only interesting but it is applicable.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to office hours as soon as you can. Not only is she a great resource for problem solving, but she teaches the entire 3 series with mostly the same group of students. She is very good with students and is an excellent resource for a letter of recommendation.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This professor in particular, was not helpful at all. She was never at her office hours and she could not adequately answer questions that students had.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to apply what I had previously learned in my high school calculus class to real life situations. It opened my eyes to how math is used in different life scenarios.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would consider forming a study group with other students because that is what I felt really helped. Also, get help from your TA if your professor is not helpful like mine was.
