    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Biology major required. If you don't need it, don't take it! Hard class, it is a biology major weeding out class at this school. Thornton is pretty funny. Interesting class and tries to keep everyone's attention by bringing back the relevance of the material. He attributes the lab grade into your lecture grade. What you get in the lecture is your grade in the lab. Also the only lecture grade you get other than the exams are from clicker quizzes that he usually takes at the beginning of class. Oh yeah, class starts at 8 AM. Have fun!

    Course highlights:

The lab was boring at first until you finally got to check out your mutation results from the fruit flies. Lecture was cool when we finally got to the modern technologies and the CRISPR sequence, learning about the countless possibilities with this bacterial genetic code. I'll admit that the greatest highlight of all was completing this class.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Class is mainly just lectures and the exams are compiled from the slides. Careful though, his exams are tough. The written portion is actually easier than his multiple choice. Some of the questions are comprehension of the material and being able to apply it. I got by by reading the chapters even beyond his lectures because of his comprehension questions.
