    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Van Der Molen is both a very intellectual man, and you will grow as a person and as a writer. He is both funny, kind, and patient. However, he will also make sure he is getting the best out of you in your papers and discussions.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed analyzing the many excerpts that Mr. Van Der Molen gave us. I also enjoyed the discussions he had us participate in because they were about controversial topics covered by different areas of the media.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to pay attention. This class definitely uses your entire brainpower, and you will want to be listening and taking notes. But more importantly, you should be asking questions. Mr. Van Der Molen is happy to help you if you're having any problems with your paper or discussion.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking this course because it is not only a college credit course but it is well taught and teaches you valuable skills. I learned a lot about writing and relating literature to your own writing.

    Course highlights:

From this course, I learned how to type and write much better and how to explain what I am thinking. I learned how to share complex ideas and put them into my own words for better explanation.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

For this class, procrastination is not the best idea. I waited a lot of times to do the paper the day of or the night before and yes I got it done, but the quality of the paper was not up to par and my grade reflected that.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking this class because you learn practical steps to writing papers and editing your peer's work.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to read the work of fellow student papers thoroughly and find mistakes that people would normally miss. I also learned how to interpret and read pieces of literature well.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The advice I would give to other students interested in this course is to stay on top of your work. It can become overwhelming to fall behind, so make sure you are meeting deadlines and working hard with the class time given.
