Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course taught me how to how one uses chemistry in the real world. It also built leadership and teamwork skills because we did labs in small groups.

    Course highlights:

In the second semester, we mainly learned about the period table. We discussed periodic trends and how to show the location of an element using Electron Configuration. We also learned how to use Electron Configuration in shells, orbitals, and sub-shells. Lastly we learned to to draw an element using a Lewis Dot Structure and 3D Models.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

We were required to have a lab notebook to keep all the notes from class or the different labs. This really helped while studying and being organized.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course taught me many experimental science skills I will need for the future. I also built leadership and teamwork skills because we worked in small groups while doing scientific labs. Because the group were assigned to us I also got to meet new people I had not met before.

    Course highlights:

The main things that we learned in the second semester were from the periodic table. We learned about trends that we discovered. We also discussed Electron Configuration and how to diagram them using orbitals, shells, and sub-shells.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You are required to keep a lab notebook which helps a lot with notes when studying and keeping things organized. Also if you're anything like me you will be happy to know there are only one or two assignments where you actually have to present in front of the class. Participation comes from working in a group for a lab.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course requires you to think and takes you out of your comfort zone. Mr. Castillo is a great teacher and an amazing motivator. He wants you to succeed and is very knowledgeable about the material.

    Course highlights:

I gained a greater understanding of the world of chemistry and the math I learned trickled over into my Pre Calculus class.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Always do your homework and if you have questions please go ask. Never think that something will go away in Chemistry because it doesn't. Everything you learn has some kind of relevance to your next lesson.
