Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

One of the most interesting classes I've taken in high school is psychology. I've always been interested in how the human mind works and what causes people to behave the way they do, and I learned a lot about that in my psychology class. Anyone who is even mildly interested in human behavior, what causes mental illnesses, et al should take a psychology class. It is incredibly captivating.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course I think was watching a documentary on the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and writing a paper about it. I learned a lot about what mental illnesses he could have had and what caused them.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention in class. Of course, you should pay attention in any class, but I observed that whenever I was absent, I would sometimes miss information I needed on tests even if I copied the notes I missed. Paying attention is crucial in succeeding.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It was indeed a difficult class at times, but there's almost never a dull moment. Mr. Shepard is an amazing teacher who will make all of the material interesting. At the end of the course, you will look back and realize that you learned a lot. More than that, you enjoyed learning it.

    Course highlights:

Not only can I tell you about the brain and which part belongs to what function, but I can also describe how memories are formed and the stages of sleep and how the mind develops through childhood and adolescence. I can talk about dreams and when sight is fully developed and how people learn. Knowing all of that is very fulfilling.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Just do all of your work and participate actively in class (which means you have to pay attention in class--participation without attention will get you nowhere fast), and you'll succeed. Side note, doing all of your work includes reading your book. He quizzes us on a regular basis, and those quizzes do not go well when you decided to watch Netflix rather than read five pages of a psychology textbook. I may or may not know from experience.
