A Few Big Assignments
Not too easy. Not too difficult.
Dr.Rockwell's class is both interesting and challenging. In complete honesty, I struggled with assigned English reading all four years in high school, but in Rockwell's class she taught me to enjoy all types of literature. She showed me how to love different types of reading for different reasons.
I definitely enjoyed our Shakespeare unit the most. We read and annotated "Hamlet" and when we finished the play we wrote a ten page paper on the different influences of Hamlet. I enjoyed the process of writing the paper, Rockwell was helpful and I strongly improved my writing skills. The concept of creating a well-written thesis was difficult for me up until this paper, I also learned the importance of peer review. I learned through peer review that every person has a different perspective of not only a story, but of writing as well and using your peers to perfect a paper is helpful and influential.

Advice for students:
If you enjoy English as a class I highly recommend this class. Rockwell is a difficult teacher, however you will learn a lot from her. It is a difficult class with a fair amount of work, however all of the work is useful, she never gives busy work and will only give you what you need to know. The class is also very interactive and includes a lot of group work, so communication and participation are an important part in the course.
