    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Although this was a foundational course, the course was challenging for those who didn't have much mathematics background, and the professor wasn't wiling to explain challenging topics.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course for me were that I overcame a personal obstacle after failing a few tests, which I NEVER do in any course, and was able to pull my grade up to a B to pass the course.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Consider what professor is teaching, as well as your personal skills in mathematics. If you are skilled at mathematics, you will do well, but if you are not, it would be helpful to have a professor who is willing to help students out by explaining, staying after class, etc.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend the course as it is a valuable one to take in order to obtain skills that you use later in life. Over study so that you will not be under prepared. Take time to learn the concepts and you will succeed.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot of underlying algebra principles that are useful in trigonometry, calculus, and chemistry, (to name a few courses where I have exercised this skill). You will learn to solve linear and quadratic equations, sketch curves and lines, graph basic, quadratic, exponential and logarithmic functions, as well as learn about their applications.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study, study, study. With a subject like math, practice makes progress. You must apply yourself to the materials and spend time after class doing homework and reviewing topics. If the class is getting difficult I would suggest getting a study group together, attend a supplemental instruction program if available, and/or invest time in tutoring.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The majority of what students learn in this class will most likely be forgotten, until it is once again brought up. Having notes to remind someone of what they once learned is very useful when it’s difficult to remember.

    Course highlights:

I learned the uses of math for businesses. Students always ask, “When will we ever use this?” The truth is people may not use the tools for a while, but when the time comes the students will be grateful for the classes they took.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The best recommendation for any college class would be to take notes. If students take organized notes they save a lot of trouble when studying. One more tip would be to never skip class. If a student misses just one class in math, they will automatically get behind. Trust me when I say that catching up in math class is extremely difficult.
