Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course shapes you to be a much better writer. As a student you learn synthesis, argument, document based writing, and rhetorical device techniques. Overall, I definitely recommend taking this course.

    Course highlights:

I gained my voice as a writer and a reader.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to review your notes once a week for at least an hour. Also start on your group and individual project early so you wont struggle doing them last minute. Read during the summer to prepare you for the reading skills you will need to be successful.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a required class, but you can get a lot out of it if you commit to doing the work. Get started on portfolios early and break them up over the advisory. Participate in class discussions as much as you can, and make sure you're really listening to other students. Focus on the writing styles of authors you read and learn to incorporate their techniques into your own writing.

    Course highlights:

You'll learn a lot about other people's perspectives if you pay attention in this course. You'll also improve your writing a lot and be exposed to perspectives in literature you probably haven't seen before.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't procrastinate on the portfolios and do the reading. Go to the teacher to discuss essays if you're not sure what is expected. Don't talk over people in discussions, but be willing to share your opinion.
