Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is very practical, and prepares you well for the rigors of college reading, writing, and analysis. From reading 16th century satire to modern day news articles, AP Language and Composition produces well-rounded thinkers.

    Course highlights:

I really enjoyed the research/argument paper assigned second semester. It allowed me to apply the skills I had developed all year. This assignment, and others like it, really forced me to think for myself and develop and defend my own opinions.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You really need to commit. Trying to skate by is just going to end poorly for you. If you want the skills this class offers you have to chase after them because they don't come overnight.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I have never been very good at English, but I absolutely love this class. This was one of my first AP classes and I was nervous, but this is an absolutely amazing class if you want to develop your writing skills. There is many discussions and analysis of pieces of writing that are shorter in length. Current events are always spark many discussions and many arguments for your writing. If you feel like you aren't the greatest at writing, this is an amazing environment to let your skills flourish. By the end, your skills will be very sophisticated and college ready.

    Course highlights:

This is a great place to help become a greater writer. Not only do you become a better writer, but by the end you can argue absolutely anything from the analysis and synthesis skills you require. All the timed writes can be very beneficial for both the ACT and SAT. Writing papers for other classes and college essays will be second nature. Overall, your writing will improve and you become more aware of what is happening in the world around you.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

It is important to be open and confident with your ideas and arguments. You cannot get yourself down when someone tries to critique or fight you in your opinions. For the writing, always make a plan, even it is just a few notes, and timed writes will be a breeze. Ask for help when you need it and be confident, yet open to alterations, in your work.
