    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was extremely challenging, even for kids who love biology. However, in the end this class was definitely worth taking since it delves very deep into the subject of genetics and biological processes. It was really interesting to learn about all the different things that make this Earth the way it is.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were the labs. About once a week the class would have a lab that would relate to the unit of material that we were learning. One lab the class got to map their own genes through electromagnetic mapping and the entire process of getting the DNA ready was really interesting.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

As in all courses, always do the reading assignments. In this class some of the reading was optional as it was an AP class, but no matter what I always did better on the test if I did the reading. It just helps you to understand the material so much better and usually the textbook has helpful tips and tricks about the subject that might help you to remember it.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course overall is great! Throughout the year, you will brush up on simple biology, learning new hands-on concepts the further into the course. Specific labs are designed to pique your interest and give you time to reflect on what this means to an individual, a community, or a population as a whole. There's lots of room to grow in your knowledge of the subject. Also, the teacher is fantastic!

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about myself. While doing the labs that corresponded to our course, I realized what I was succeeding at and what I really enjoyed. This class has really fueled my interest in biology and has opened up the doors to pathways and careers that branch off of this class's information. I've been able to research a lot more about the human body and the world in general, and I believe if you put enough effort into this class, you will get a lot out of it.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study hard! Read the material given to you, whether that be in a book, online, or an article, and concentrate in class by writing notes. Review definitions and big concepts, relating them to how this could apply not only to the chapter, but perhaps to something beyond. It will not hurt to study a concept outside of the study guide. Be prepared for every class.
