    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course and teacher push you to work your hardest and reach your highest potential. Gerber challenges you by giving brutally honest feedback on every paper and assigning work that is meant to exercise the brain and test your abilities as a writer. Taking this course made me a much better writer and reader.

    Course highlights:

I loved reading classic novels and being able to dissect them during class. The teacher also made the class memorable by being so real with her students and genuinely caring about making them excellent writers. I give so much credit to her for my writing skills today and excelling in all my college writing classes.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to work hard and give your all to each essay that is assigned. Also, do not disregard Gerber's comments on the papers, that is what will make you a better and stronger writer.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I learned so much in this class. Ms. Gerber didn't only teach literature, she also taught the history behind the literature. But more importantly, she taught me how to push myself, and that you don't learn anything if you never fail.

    Course highlights:

My personal favorite is the anti-transcendentalism unit. We learned about the philosophy behind transcendentalism and read short stories by Nathaniel Hawthorn and other Dark Romantics.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

READ. She assigns a lot of reading in short periods of time. Just do it. Trust me, she will know if you do not.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It is a course that challenges your ability to write about and analyze literature in depths you never thought possible. Though challenging at first you will grow immensely and leave the class fully equipped for 12th grade English.

    Course highlights:

I learned self discipline throughout this course from having set deadlines for every reading assignment. And once one book is finished it is straight on to the next with new exciting discussions and fascinating historical backgrounds.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

It may seem intimidating at first glance but the course is very manageable. Nothing asked of you is unreasonable and all the work can be completed in the given time frame if you stay on task and do not, under any circumstances, procrastinate.
