    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this class because it is a good step into genetics. It gives you the basic tools you need to be able to understand what's going on in the field, and the opportunity to ask questions on what you don't understand.

    Course highlights:

I loved the recitations. The people who run them are friendly and willing to do whatever it takes for you to understand.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I had to spend a lot of time on YouTube looking for explanations and visual aids because I struggled to visualize what was happening. There are tons of good resources out there. Use them.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a very unique course and challenging. The depth and material covered can be a bit much sometimes, but the knowledge you gain is impressive.

    Course highlights:

I am molecular genetics fan. Therefore, I really enjoyed going into depth with DNA replication, transcription and translation. For those who enjoy macrogenetics, this course is split into two with macro at the beginning and then micro as the second half of the semester.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep up with the course material and homework. Go into office hours if need be. The recitation was the best part and helped to clarify the material covered in lecture.
