    Course Overview:

Absolutely loved taking this course from this professor. Fenton is a great storyteller which helps you as a student to remember what you are studying. Art History is a complicated mess, but having a professor who truly knows what he's talking about and is able to effectively communicate his teachings makes all the difference.

    Course highlights:

I always love learning about the Renaissance. Also, in this class you learn the good, the bad, and the forgotten. And apparently you should be careful asking to learn about your childhood favorite artworks because they aren't always so adorable. For instance the famous Rococo "Swing" painting is not about pure love, but a woman who is making her husband think she loves him, but in reality she is secretly "flashing" her lover who is hidden below. So be careful what you ask to learn about.

    Advice for students:

Think of the tests like a game. That's something that really helped me. I thought of it like playing one of those card games as a kid where you have to remember the picture on the card and memorize the info with it or something like that. Also, word-association is important. The painting called "The Birth of Venus" where the wind is blowing over the naked woman on the shell? It is by the artist Boticelli, which we were told to remember as "bottle of chilly" because obviously Venus would be a little cold and chilly being naked in the sea.
