Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class is interesting and interactive! It is fairly easy but also so interesting and taught in a way that engages the students and makes it fun!

    Course highlights:

I learned about ocean currents and patterns about sea water and the effects that pollution and global warming is having on the oceans of the world. I learned about conservation of the sea and just how important it is that we take care of our oceans, because they have so much sea life in them that is absolutely vital to the survival of humans. The highlights of the course were the guest speakers and the documentaries that we got to see, because they were things that I never would have watched or listened to outside of class, but they were very interesting and have really affected me and influenced me to be more environmentally conscious.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely take it! Going to class is absolutely essential. Although all of the class powerpoint slides are posted online, they are not always the same and class participation points are huge. Plus it is very hard to learn the information without the notes from class and without seeing the documentaries.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Even though I didn't want to take a science class, this was a really good option. I'm not going to become a marine biologist, but I enjoyed learning about the ocean. Ursula was a really good teacher but also laid back, so it wasn't extremely difficult, but I still learned quite a bit. It's a good option for a science class.

    Course highlights:

We learned about life in the oceans, the water itself, life systems in the oceans, and plate movements. There was a variety of different approaches to teaching each subject, from lectures, to iclicker quizzes, to interesting documentaries.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Just go to class, and you will get all the extra credit opportunities and you'll learn everything you need to. All the information for the homework is in the textbook and it's very straightforward. It's easy to do well if you put a little bit of effort into showing up.
