    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is a standard Freshman Biology class that all science majors need to take. It's important to get a firm grasp on the material from this course as it's the foundation for all of the science classes to come.

    Course highlights:

In high school, we are all required to take biology which makes this course slightly easier. if you ever took AP Biology, then this course will make it more of a breeze. You definitely learn processes, biological equations, and structures more in depth than you would have in previous biology courses. One of the best feelings is getting the material down and being able to apply it to other sections throughout this course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

STUDY! My experience through this course was tough even after taking AP Biology. Some of this has to do with my professor, but also due to the fact that the exams were very hard. Questions can be tricky and worded in ways that are meant to mess you up. if you study, take the Mastering Biology assignments online seriously and take good notes, then it will make your experience better. I recommend trying to find previous tests from other years, going to Quizlet, or taking the practice exams that come online with the Campbell's Biology textbook.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Bjostad definitely knows a lot about biology and is very passionate about it. However he bases your final grade on just the exam scores, which are usually difficult. Every other LIFE 102 class lets you do Mastering Biology or group exams in order to help your grade. Therefore, I would strongly recommend taking this class with a different instructor.

    Course highlights:

You learn a lot about the structure of cells, how they function, and where certain organisms get their energy.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you get stuck with Bjostad I would recommend going into his TA's office hours and reading the book that he requires you to get. At the end of the semester he does curve his grades so try not to worry too much.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The teacher knows alot about the subject and the homework is fairly easy (learn it in class then do it online). The tests though are hard, the extra credit group exam is easy while the individual tests are twice as hard.

    Course highlights:

You gain alot of knowledge on things that may have been pretty minor in previous biology studies. It is not like the typical high school AP class.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Review deeper into the lesson. She puts stuff in the tests that you would not look for in her lessons. So, read the book thoroughly and look stuff up online as well.
