    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Kumar is an excellent and very knowledgable teacher. As an AP teacher, however, she expects you to take the time/effort to study the course material yourself before coming to her for questions

    Course highlights:

Like any other AP course, AP Chem taught me to delegate my tasks. It also made me focus on finding a solid study method that was efficient for me

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Flash cards will be your best friend. Also know your acids and bases, as the unit on neutralizing solutions and buffers will probably be the hardest test you ever take in the class :)) good luck!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Previously, science had been one of my least favorite subjects in school. However, after taking AP Chemistry, I became very interested in science to the point where I would consider majoring in science. Before I took the class, I barely knew anything about chemistry. I only knew of some vocabulary but did not understand the meanings. However, after taking the class, these words and concepts became second-nature to me. AP Chemistry has been one of the most unforgettable classes in my career as a student because of how much I learned and how supportive and intelligent my teacher and classmates were. Thus, I would highly recommend Mission San Jose High School students to take AP Chemistry.

    Course highlights:

From AP Chemistry, I learned not only a ton of chemistry, but also skills like time management, communication, and critical thinking. The class was very fast-paced, with students having to read one chapter in one night, and having lab homework on top of textbook problems. From this, I learned to manage time and finish homework quickly while still understanding the subject. In addition, the lectures in class were often quite fast, so it was almost impossible to understand everything during the lecture. Thus, I often asked the teacher many questions, and this taught me how to form concise but meaningful questions. Finally, the tests in class were extremely difficult because they focused on material outside of the textbook. Therefore, I was forced to completely familiarize myself with the subject material so that I would know to answer the test questions.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

If you take this course, the most important thing is to manage time wisely and make sure you understand the material. The class is extremely fast-paced and involves many assignments, so it is important not to waste time. Also, the class involves many labs and difficult tests, so it is very important to completely understand the material. Whenever I spend extra time and effort trying to master a certain chapter, I always carry out labs more efficiently and score higher on tests. On a similar note, it is important to talk with the teacher. Not only is she very clear with her explanations, but she is always happy to help students. I've found that by asking my teacher questions, I can understand a subject better.
