    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

My vocabulary expanded tremendously and I when I read books, I was able to read in between the lines. I developed better writing skills as well. Most of all, I used to dislike writing essays but Mr. Massey gave us a method that made it more exciting.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was that my education meant a lot to my teacher and so he expanded the material he taught us. Whatever areas he saw us struggling with he helped us on his own time. At the beginning of the year, he asked for us to write down the things we struggled the most in English and he would put together a practice packet for us so we could strengthen our weaknesses.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Never turn in any homework late and make sure you show up to class. It’s never fun playing catch up. Pay attention to everything Mr. Massey says, you might not see the point of listening at the moment but, later on you’ll realize. He foreshadows in an incognito way that’s a bit complex, but as soon as you grasp that then it’ll be a bit easier. Also, study as much as you can as soon as you learn new material because studying last minute will not do you justice in this class. Note cards are the best way to go just because you can take them anywhere and pull them out at anytime. Writing them out and seeing them repetitively is super helpful. I also would put sticky notes on my bed room and bathroom walls just so I got super familiar with the material.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The teacher is highly inspiring. She makes you question the world around you and inspires you to continue reading in order to gain outside knowledge.

    Course highlights:

I learned the importance of self discovery.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read. Read and question the world around you because it will make you an amazing young adult. You will gain knowledge in a way you never imagined. My advice is to read and never give up.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I absolutely would recommend taking this course because it really just gets you out of your comfort zone and personal capabilities. Coming out of Pre-Ap 10th grade i didn't know if i would be capable of AP English and really i just doubted myself ever since. That summer going into my Junior year i really just gave myself a hard time because i knew i had to do the summer assignment and it was due like a week later. Well turns out the book was actually good which was A Separate Peace and i didn't really regret wasting my last few weeks on the assignment. Rather i learned that assignments are made to build you and not break you in the future. I however did not succeed in the class but i did for sure learned a lot from the advice given from Mrs. Butanieh. Overall Her class prepared me for Mrs.Griffin's class and for college. I am thankful for being apart of her class and the work that was given to me. She's a great person to be around and though many fear to take her class she actually is the sweetest teacher and will help you with your weaknesses. Also, reading has become my favorite habit due to the influence that she had on me.

    Course highlights:

The homework that is given to you is an absolute brain killer. I recall not wanting to go in the class because i knew that the assignment was to be turned in at the bin at that exact moment. Its actually not that bad because once i got used to the system i remember the feeling of being complete and relieved for the day. In the her weekly assignment on wednesday it was always due at around 12:00 a.m. sharp and man do i remember turning it in at 11:50 p.m. . However i turned that around and stopped making excuses for not having a computer and went to the Mesquite Library. At the end of the day she's actually helping you out for the future and if you look at it that way then you will get to love her.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this course you must do the assignment that are given and do everything on time. She gives tutoring after school so you have to take advantage of that and learn from your weaknesses. Just do work and you will see yourself succeeding.
