    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because it pushed me to my limits academically and as a human being. Through this course I learned how to look past the literal when reading books and watching films. This class has changed the way I think and view the world around me. I would not recommend this class if you do not work well under pressure or cannot handle stress.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to analyze films and books and identify themes and ideas present in each.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Do not procrastinate and think positively.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP Language and Composition, by far, is my favorite class that I took throughout my entire high school career. The course load is quite hefty, but it is incredibly enriching. The textbook that you work through in order to prepare and teach you how to properly dissect collegiate and scholarly essays is an excellent book. The class dynamic created by Mr. Korten was the best part of the entire class.

    Course highlights:

Reading Wharton's Ethan Frome was definitely the highlight. It's still—to this day—one of my favorite books.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not procrastinate. I'm serious. An entire chapter of Frames of Mind takes about five hours to complete in total, and it is nearly impossible to finish it in one night. I mean...everyone did it anyway, but it's a sick twisted form of self-torture. Do a little bit of the work each night.
