Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It is very important to take calculus if your major is math related. This is a challenging course that requires deep thought.

    Course highlights:

I learned that calculus is very conceptual, and it helps if you are taking physics as well. The main things are derivatives and integrals.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Study the textbook and really ask the teacher questions to fully understand.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Lamb is an excellent teacher who really dedicates all of his energy to teaching. He is constantly available at lunch and after school, and is very willing to provide students with the help that they need. Quizzes (called "quizzles") are difficult, and take place weekly, but his curve is generous (four points) and he allows one dropped quiz per quarter. I was prepared very well for the AP test, and scored a five without any prep on my own.

    Course highlights:

Definitely Mr. Lamb's dedication to the class, as well as the abundance of AP prep. By the time I took the test, I had taken at least 8 AP practice exams and done dozens of FRQs. After all of that, the test was a breeze.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The daily warmups are very helpful, and I always kept mine to review before quizzles. The work in the Barron's book is also very helpful--I would urge students NOT to skip the problems, even though they can be challenging, as they prepare you well for the AP test.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is a very insightful math class. Mr. Lamb not only teaches his students how to solve problems, but also explains why these problems exist and the theories behind them. He also makes sure that every student has opportunities to succeed by providing after school and weekend tutoring sessions.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to derive functions and integrate functions. I also learned about limits, sequences, trigonometry, the unit circle, inverse functions, rates of change, continuity, related rates, volume, area, Riemann Sums, partial fractions, improper integrals, convergence, and divergence.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do your homework every night. Pay attention in class and ask questions when you do not understand a subject. If you still need support, go to Mr. Lamb's after school tutoring sessions for one on one instruction. Always keep a positive attitude and do not give up.
