Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Amy does an amazing job at putting difficult content into simpler terms and keeps the class interactive.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed having lab with her as well. We learned how to take what we were learning in lecture and apply it in lab.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Listen to her podcasts before tests, take notes, study and keep your learning interactive. If you are trying to memorize diagrams, keep drawing them until you have it memorized.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course was quite challenging, but increased your knowledge or the biological sciences all together.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed the pod-casts presented to us throughout this course. It helped me understand the concepts more, and allowed me to take better notes. I learned that no matter how hard things got in the course, that you should never give up on yourself.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would defiantly suggest going to the professors office hours. If you have any questions about the material in the course, the professor can help you one on one, which then will benefit you throughout the course. I would also suggest taking good notes, and staying focused during lecture.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course was extremely challenging but also very rewarding. In the beginning I struggled a ton, but as the semester flew by it felt great to look back and see how far I'd come from utter confusion to actually being able to comprehend the material.

    Course highlights:

I learned that there was more to natural selection and evolution than just Charles Darwin and his trip to the Galapagos Island. I learned about the Hardy-Weinberg Principle, mutations (and what they allow for), along with others. In addition to that I learned about translation and transcription, along with major breakthrough experiments such as Chemiosmosis and the Central Dogma.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

If you're at all confused, don't wait until the day before the test to begin cramming and freaking out about it (my major mistake). I ended up doing very poorly on my first exam because I really didn't know how to study for it, and I was too scared to ask for help. Seek help sooner than later, and when that point comes go to office hours because Professor Burrack really tries her best to help, and I was able to grasp some really tough concepts with her help. Also, read every single chapter she assigns and take notes! Also follow the guided questions that come with each chapter assigned.
