Not too easy. Not too difficult.
I would recommend this class because the material is interesting even if you don't have a background in history, and Professor Carlson gives great lectures as well as letting students discuss the materials in depth among themselves.
The highlight of this course is the book on the Black Death, but you learn some fascinating aspects of European history in every section. There really isn't a boring segment, and more often than not what you learn contradicts what you may have thought you knew about the history of the region.

Advice for students:
Make sure you do the worksheets well and proofread your papers because Professor Carlson is a tough grader, but it is easy to get an A if you put in a fair amount of effort. Also, when it comes to the exams, make sure you cover pretty much everything relevant to the subject. Papers are quality over quantity, but exams are the opposite.
