    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class has opened my eyes to a whole new world. From the moment I peered into my first microscope, I have become fascinated with the way the world works. I love reading stories, because it opens up new worlds and teases the mind with new adventures. Biology does the same. If you give it a chance, you will find so many new worlds, be it the microscopic world of a cell, or the glorious, icy world of the arctic ecosystem.

    Course highlights:

You will learn about all the basic biology concepts from properties of water and basic biological chemistry, to the digestive system, and the nervous system, the different type of cells, and cellular respiration. The difference between this and any other biology class, is that you'll be learning about it in major depth. Some say this makes it more difficult, and it does, but it also makes it a million times more interesting. You will learn what the lipids, the carbs, the proteins, and nucleic acids are made of and how each is broken down and used in the digestive system. You will learn not only about organelles and their functions, but understand on the molecular level, how they complete their functions. You will feel so smart during this class. I can not describe how much information you will have crammed into your brain.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

AP Biology is extremely rewarding, but it is also A LOT of work. Please, in order to fully enjoy this class, do all the work. You may find answers to a pogil (worksheet) at some point, but never find easy ways to do the reading. You will have a lot of work, and you may feel like it is impossible to spend the time to read and take detailed notes, but you must spend that time. You can compromise on worksheets to make more time for reading. Do not save all your packet work for the last second. You will be up very very late if you do.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend this course because the content is extremely interesting and one can gain new insight into the complexity of life. The teacher is extremely passionate about the subject and a fair grader.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course are the labs that correspond to the concepts we learn about in the textbook. The labs are a great way to reinforce material in a different way.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are interested in the medical field, I suggest taking this course because it gives you a strong foundation for college.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

He was very engaging! He was very conversational and hands on rather than lecturing.

    Course highlights:

I really enjoyed the dissecting lab. We were able to have a hands on experience to discuss what we already learned. This made the subject material much more clear.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would recommend taking the course only if you are very interested in biology. If you want to major in science in college, this class will be very engaging and interesting to you.
