    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP United States History is a challenging course through its demanding coursework and extensive material, but Mrs. Faris will bring you to embrace history. Many people will shy away from the class because of its reputation. In reality, the homework is neither difficult nor time-consuming as long as it's done on time. Her tests are actually harder than the AP Exam, so if you pass those, you will pass the exam easily.

    Course highlights:

Throughout, I improved my studying and note taking system which was helpful for future classes. I gained a better understanding of U.S. history, which came in handy in English, Government, and Macroeconomics.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't procrastinate. In some classes, procrastination will do no harm, but in this class, it will be your demise. Don't let the work overwhelm you, manage your time by simply reading a few pages a night instead of doing a whole chapter in one sitting. The notes you take are easy grades that will help balance out lower test grades, especially in the beginning of the year.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was super interesting! It was fun to learn about the true history of our country, whether reevaluating what we thought we knew or learning about people and events we had never even heard of. The class made me a better writer and helped me learn to study effectively.

    Course highlights:

I learned to take good notes and study in a way that really worked for me. I also learned to look for cause and effect relationships as well as similarities between events that could have been years apart.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't slack off on your notes! Keep up with the schedule she gives you and your life will be a lot easier. As a review before tests, go back through your notes and highlight the really important things or what you're not likely to remember. Do your CTQs as you go so they don't pile up the night before they're due.
