    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Introduction to Computer Programming is exactly that, a first look at how to program computers. First you study how to give linear directions (it's surprising how non-linearly we think) and how to build flow charts. Next you learn to take those flow charts and say the same thing in pseudocode, a baby step toward an actual programming language. Last, you write simple programs in C++ using Microsoft's Visual Studio and learn how the language can work, how functions work, how arrays work. All these tools you have accumulated are then used to build your own program as a final project.

    Course highlights:

I learned to take a program idea and break it down into the building blocks (functions) and tied them together into something that works. Take a menu for example. You need a list of items, with descriptions and costs, a way to choose items, a way to tally an individual's choices, and possibly a way to keep track of inventory.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take good notes, don't be afraid to take pictures of the things written on the board or powerpoints, and read the book. If you have questions, go talk to Ms Eisele or the TA during office hours. They are wonderful about explaining things.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course if you really need it because it is so much time consuming and it could be frustating to design those programs that you get as homework every week.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about the basics of programmig and the python language, which is kind of frustatring but been patient could help so much.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

You need to really dedicate specific time to do your programs due to if you do not do it, it could affect you on finish them because they take a lot of time to finish them.
