Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class has given me so many opportunities in order to further my education in science. By far this was my favorite class, I have learned so much. I can now map every body system, describe its function and locations, list common problems that occur in the systems as well as how to treat those problems. Don't get me wrong it is quite a bit of work, you have to do personal journals, quizzes, exams, tests, labs, lectures, and many other things. One of the best things about this course is that in the second semester you have to read a book called "The Immortal Cells of Henretta Lacks", then you have to write a five page paper on it. You also have to shadow and interview someone in the medical field and write a five page paper on that. This may sound like a total waste of time but you learn so much more than you would just reading a general summary of the medical field job. The book is also extremely interesting, a woman's cells are IMMORTAL! Mrs. Muchna is super understanding and is willing to help you out on literally anything! She has helped me with questions in science to even personal things, like figuring out what college I should go to. I will not forget this class, I'm actually sad that it is the end of the year and I won't be taking another class with Mrs. Muchna. If you're skeptical about taking a course with her, take it! You will not regret it, I promise!

    Course highlights:

I can tell you detailed information about any body system. I can tell you the exact location and function. General anatomy is covered as well as molecular anatomy in this course. You do dissections of sheep's brain, cow's eye, cow heart, fetal pig, and many other things. You will definitely get a hands-on experience! It is quite a bit of work, but if you're willing to just put a small amount of effort into the coursework, as well as work with the teacher you will be perfectly fine!

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

ASK QUESTIONS! If you're confused about something or you just have a random question, don't be afraid to ask it! Put in effort, you wont understand the course unless you put in work. Be prepared to write a couple of essays, as well as read a book and interview someone in the medical field. Get a group of friends and study with them for the tests, and exams. You don't have a final exam in this class, instead it is a chapter exam, so no need to worry about that! Be considerate and forgiving to yourself, If you get a bad test or quiz grade, don't worry about it. The course is designed so that a few bad tests or exams won't hurt you. Finally, enjoy your time in the class because a year goes by extremely fast.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend it because Mrs. Muchna is a wonderful teacher and she has such a passion for what she teaches. I have learned so much about the human body, and I continue to learn more.

    Course highlights:

Some of the highlights would be dissecting a sheep brain, cow eye, calf heart, and a fetal pig. I learned how the human body works.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The only advice that I would give to students in this course is finish all of the labs when she gives them to you. Also, study for all of the tests and use the PowerPoint labs she makes available.
