    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course was a very hard course for me to wrap my mind around. It has been a while since I took this course but from what I can remember it was mostly lecture with a test once a week. I am a very hands on learner, so listening to lectures and taking tests on the subject matter did not work very effectively. My saving grace was studying in the library with classmates.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to break down words, and mostly about language barriers, after the course was done not much of it stuck with me.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study, study, study. Most of all find a few friends in the class and help each other study. It is hard course work and if you are struggling with a piece of course work, one of them may get it so they could help teach you. Later down the road you may get to help them with something they are struggling with as well.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is known as one of the harder classes at the school. There is a lot of reading, and assignments can be frustrating. However, the content ends up being very interesting, and very helpful, especially for those who want to work with early childhood teaching. It is worth the work, and makes you a better student.

    Course highlights:

I learned about languages around the world, where they started, how they transformed, and how they are still changing. The most exciting thing I learned about was child language acquisition. I learned about why kids makes the mistakes they do, which is fascinating.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep up on homework, don't do it last minute. You need to start homework asap, so you can frequently go back and redo areas that you may have gotten wrong.
