    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I have always loved math and science classes. When I took Honors Chemistry I was under the impression that it was going to be very difficult. The teacher, Mr. Cross, was seen as the strictest science teacher, but in my experience he only pushed me to do my best. I worked very hard in that class with the motivation to learn what I was being taught. I studied almost every night and always did my assignments, I left with one of the highest grades in the class and a great student teacher relationship.

    Course highlights:

This chemistry class was when all science terms clicked in my head. One of my highlights was actually the midterm. We just learned how to convert moles, and the midterm was a very interesting and interactive way to apply this new method.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would say to students who want to take this course that it is a very serious class. The way Mr. Cross teaches however is very understandable and he is great at making science fun. You do have to study almost every night to keep the knowledge you learn and completely understand the course. If you do struggle in the class Mr. Cross is very accommodating and does offer help when you need it.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Although this was definitely not one of the easiest courses, the class was very interesting as we got to perform many labs and saw demonstrations. This class work load also helped me to prepare for more difficult classes such as advanced placement classes.

    Course highlights:

Learning about all of the different elements on the periodic chart and the number of the different types of particles was one of the core topics and was imperative to know throughout the year. There are many labs that you will get to try and learn about chemical reactions, mixtures, compounds, and more.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Take notes on everything and keep your notebook dated and organized. You want to be able to access your information easily at any time of the year. In addition, don't blow off homework. The only way to get better at the material is by handling practice problems and examples!
