    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Looking back at my early years at high school, I never thought I would take a course such as this. I walked into AP Psychology this school year (2016-2017), as a senior, with hardly any knowledge of what was to come from and what was to be expected in this class. At first sight, this class looked very difficult and complicated. But little did I know that this would come to be my most favorite class that I have ever taken. I recommend Psychology because it is a very interesting and easily understandable class. The topics covered vary from cognitive to behavioral factors and from outside to inner influences, and there are many theories and point of views from many different scientists and psychologists who are both right and wrong in many ways. Not only that, but the course goes deep in depth into the information that is known as well as taps into the unknown such as the unconscious states of our mind and pretty much how people came to be. All this information is passed down onto students and can be used in real life to better themselves. I recommend psychology because while it is a challenging class, it is very easy to stay on top of if you focus, pay attention, study hard, and are actually interested in it. You will gain nothing from the class if you do not work hard and do your best and there is no way to procrastinate your work till the last minute! One thing I would have done differently coming into this class is to not worry about doing good. As long as you focus and pay attention, you will realize that this class will be one of the mot important ones you will ever take in high school and then maybe continue in college.

    Course highlights:

The best part of this course is that it is very interesting and beneficial to your own well being as it offers insight into the way we process everything around us. The course focuses on the study of various behavioral and mental processes and the psychologists that have contributed to it and goes very in-depth with every topic it teaches. The course has many group discussions, lots of reading, and allows students to both perform and watch experiments that have psychological influences. Not only that but the teachers tend to be extremely funny, humorous, and very understanding towards every student making the class feel like home. It would not be possible to list everything that I have learned as this class is the most informative one I have ever taken. Three quarters of the way in, I have already learned about the different parts of the brain, cells and neurons, states of the mind, mental disorders and diseases, cognitive and behavioral processes, different views and standpoints of important psychologists and scientists, different controversial psychological debates, stress management, real life applications, and so much more! The list is endless and you will leave the class with a whole new set of knowledge and a whole new viewpoint on the way you go about your life. Additionally, this class has left such a mark on me that I wish to continue studying psychology as a major in college.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The advice I would give to students considering this course is to take it without having any doubts! Because they are considering it, I would strongly encourage them to follow through with their consideration. Although I wasn't sure in the beginning about whether or not to take this class, I have come to see that I had made the right decision. If you're considering taking psychology, do not doubt yourself. Just know that this isn't a class you can fool around in and breeze by. If you are taking this course, you need to put in your maximum effort to read and study everything that is given to you because it won't only help your grade and education, it will also help your health and future self. Another thing I recommend is constantly participating and asking questions. There will be a lot you will learn that you have never heard about in this class and it is important that you stay on top of all of it. Other students won't stay on top of it for you and you need to confirm any questions you have and make sure you do what is expected of you to do! This may sound a little intriguing and strict but all I am really saying is to do your best and to study hard. You will love this class but if you're not interested in it, then it is not for you. But then again, you wouldn't be considering it if you weren't interested in it. So just do your best and try to learn as much as you possibly can because it will only help you both in the short and long run!
