    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Although this class gave me a lot of trouble, it was ultimately worth it. The subject is definitely complex and the class requires a lot of work to be put in; this isn't one of those classes where you can hope to skate by by briefly skimming your notes before a test. It requires a lot of studying and practice, but thankfully the teacher devotes a lot of class time to going over the material until it sticks.

    Course highlights:

Mrs. Trotochaud in general was probably the highlight of this class. She is so nice and funny and genuinely cares about how her students are doing in her class. She is willing to stay after pretty much any day and she makes great study guides for tests and exams; she wants nothing more than for you to succeed and do your best.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are not very strong in math, I would recommend taking a lower level chemistry class. Chemistry in general is very math-based, so if math isn't your favorite or strongest subject, this class might be quite challenging.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is a fast-pace and in depth learning of general chemistry. It is math-heavy and highly recommended for anyone pursuing STEM fields.

    Course highlights:

This course is very rigorous and includes many lab sessions. It covers the general principles of thermochemistry, solutions, gas laws, periodic trends, atomic structure, etc.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Prepare for class by studying the material and paying attention. Understand the material before moving on to other subjects.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a very fulfilling experience. It taught me how to operate in day to day life even while drained of energy and rational thought. Still, it is a good trial by fire to see if you're up for the challenge of AP classes.

    Course highlights:

The chemistry is not quite as important as the logical thinking process that you gain from this class. Concepts are alien, diagrams are like hieroglyphs, and the math seems difficult at first glance. But once you can develop a good sense of logic and detail oriented thinking, this class will become much easier.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Always pay attention in class. Always. Never go to sleep in class and just hope to learn the material later because it isn't easy. Also, brush up on your chemistry jokes. Jokes about elements, the subject, or any chemistry concept are great. (Especially puns)
