Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course dives deep into the process of real engineering. It forces you to design, prototype, brainstorm, write reports, present, debug and work as a team. All very important skills that cannot be found in a package like this any other place.

    Course highlights:

Learning how to use design software was definitely helpful. Also, getting used to presenting ideas for a project for stakeholders was an enlightening experience.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Stay on top of deadlines! This course is extremely fast. You need to be looking a few assignments ahead so you're not caught off guard! Don't overlook the importance of the iterative process either.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking this course early in an engineering career, because immediately you learn about technical writing, and also get to design and build many different prototypes for a project. This is a very hands-on class, which many engineers enjoy.

    Course highlights:

Being able to work with a group to build a project was a highlight.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Meeting weekly outside of class with your group will help groups stay on track for meeting deadlines.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

EPICS is a great class because you get to learn a wide variety of skills. This class will take you out of your comfort zone, but it can teach you how to design a solution to a complex problem. It also really expands your skills through teaching Solidworks and sketching.

    Course highlights:

The highlights include struggling to make a design that works and addressing unexpected problems as they arise. I also enjoyed learning a specific design process that works. Solidworks and sketching classes are also very cool

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

This class requires a lot of time at the end of the semester. Start on the projects early and keep on top of your team to do their jobs. I also suggest going to two Solidworks classes per week because it will make it much easier to learn the material.
