    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would only recommend this course for those who are really interested or wants to know more about microbiology. The amount of information offered with this class is definitely copious; therefore, time and effort are really necessary when taking this course.

    Course highlights:

This course focused on the microorganisms that can affect individuals. Various diseases are also studied in this course. Signs, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments are all given in this course. There was a little information discussed regarding the body systems, just to provide basic knowledge about the human body.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do all the homework. Read. Do not skip class. Do not procrastinate. Focus. Manage your time. Study in advance.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course as it has effectively helped me gain knowledge required for the field of nursing. It gave me important information about how important sanitation is in the health care field and about the different diseases that can occur to due to microbes.

    Course highlights:

The highlights in the course included the diseases that occur to microbes and how they affect different systems in the body. In lab, we had to find an unknown bacteria which helped us view how researchers and scientists find and discover bacteria from a variety of tests.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Always read the chapter in the textbook before lecture! It not only helps you understand the material better, but what may have been said in lecture may help you understand what you had read in the textbook. It is also good repetition and helps you remember certain topics better! I also made sure to go over the professor's powerpoints while reading the textbook.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The reason why I would highly recommend his course is because professor Klotz has so much background knowledge that he as to offer to the students. He's compassionate but also straight forward on what he expects from his students. With experience in the dental field he raises certain standards in regards of studying and obtaining information in a certain amount of time and pushes students to what may be an experience or "sneak peak" of what future medical students might encounter.

    Course highlights:

He occasionally cracks jokes in order to entertain his students in a course that can sometimes feel overwhelming. He gives you all the tools and knowledge, and it all comes down to the individual on what they choose to do with those tools. He pushes every one of his students to the limits with the purpose to also push his students to obtain a thorough understanding of the importance and impact that microbiology has done over the years.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Some advice that i would give to students considering this course is that to be prepared to do some heavy studying. Its not impossible to pass his course if you put the time and effort to do so. He mentioned "You get what you give" and he is darn right. If you study for a C then dont expect to get a B or an A+. He gives you all the notes. It all comes down to how you use those notes in order to pass his exams. What i did was during class i would highlight and underline key words that would allow to memorize that certain fact or sentence. I would then turned all of his notes into flashcards. Although the huge pile of stacks of flashcards might have looked overwhelming, i can assure you that it was all worth it. Its a bit tough, but its not impossible.
