Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would whole heartedly recommend the English 3 Advanced Placement course at Oxnard High School. It was a great experience taught by an amazing teacher. The knowledge I gained and memories which were created from that class are ones I will never forget.

    Course highlights:

The writing skills I obtained from writing persuasive, analytical and argumentative essays made me a better writer than I ever thought possible. This class also opened my eyes to the current event issues around me today from the fast food and meat industry to working conditions. The routine Socratic Seminars allowed me to express my ideas as well as understands others which helped me to learn to find new perspectives. The most influential assignment we had was the famous "This I Believe" essay at the end of the year. This essay was personal and heartfelt in which each student was required to describe something they believed in using personal experience. The purpose of this essay was to make the class aware of obstacles everyone had over come and to essentially never judge a book by its cover.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell students to take their time on their essays and keep their notebooks organized. It is easy to succeed in this class and the topics discussed are very interesting. A big tip would be to never start an essay the night before its due all though it will be very tempting.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this class to any junior that will want to improve their writing and reading skills. I enjoyed the style of the class and the organization of it. Also, I liked how with projects it was relevant and relatable topics.

    Course highlights:

I learned the proper way to write an essay and how to correct essays. I learned the format of an essay and different types of essays. I learned how to understand an article to figure out what the author was trying to get to the audience.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Stay on top of things and write due dates down. Don't be afraid to ask questions or to ask for help

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

She is actually retiring, sadly the school will lose a great and aspiring teacher. Mrs. Lee is a ball of fun, you never get bored with her and she'll make your day. She changed my perspective on a lot of things, starting with the reality of life.

    Course highlights:

This course meant that we could laugh, smile, cry, gasp for air, spring curiosity, and show off our talents. She was always prepared to tell us that we need to work harder and she was blunt in correcting our papers (which helped a ton). She would give you one on one even if she had over 200+ AP kids already. I loved hearing her lecture and I loved the projects we did. I passed the AP test thanks to her, even though I didn't think I had a chance.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Sorry, too late. She's kind of gone but it's nice to talk about her since I am proud to have been her student. I wish that more students could grow up with Mrs. Lee's words in their heads, but it's kind of too late. I'm truly sorry. Thank you Mrs. Lee!
