    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class challenges you to see and use the highest of your potential. It aids you in discovering writing abilities you never knew you had. This course will guide you in the right direction to see what college holds for you; it will challenge you all while enriching your knowledge.

    Course highlights:

This course has made several highlights in my academic journey. All of the writings and criticism from the professor have been the biggest highlight I have seen due to the fact that it has made me, overall, a better writer. The course has helped me in understanding context that before we're impossible for me to understand. Ass well as this, this course will sharpen your skills and teach you how to write extended, elaborate essays in just a short amount of time.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

My biggest advice for this course would be to truly pay attention to what the professor has to say and to understand it. Ask as many questions as you need and never procrastinate. This course will go extremely fast and and little procrastination will set you behind. As well as this, it is extremely important to do as the professor says and to revise and edit your work as much as you can before you turn it it. Participation is a major contributor to your grade here as well as attendence and punctuality, so always make your presence known.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class, although challenging, forces you to discover the inner writer in every student. In addition, the analytical skills you develop by the rigorous reading is astonishing.

    Course highlights:

Before this class, I feared writing. Even though I had aced all my essays in my previous English classes, I did not feel comfortable expressing myself until this class. I learned to express myself better. Sometimes I think better than verbally.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

The first months of this class are the hardest. Mr. Lucas really tries to see who is serious about taking the class and who are just there for the extra point on their transcript. Even if the grades on your essays are lower than anything you've received before, be patient and follow Lucas's advice. Also, DO THE SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course since it prepares you for college level writing. Admittedly, I stayed up late majority of my nights since he would regularly assign essays. They had to be exceptional because he refused to grade on a curve and made you realize where your level of writing actually was. Additionally, it taught me to be more descriptive and to utilize academic language when writing. I started off that class getting 40's on my essays since we were never truly taught how to write beyond the 5 paragraph outline we were always taught, and ended the semester getting 90's. My writing has definitely improved and I would recommend this to anyone seeking to better themselves in the English language.

    Course highlights:

When students first start off in this course, it is unlikely they will excel. Although that may sound like a negative statement, it is not, for you will experience a great feeling when your grade rises even a little. It sincerely taught us how to be patient and see our improvements. Furthermore, It taught us to be more descriptive with our writing. Prior to this course I would do the minimum required of what was considered a paragraph, 4-6 sentences. After this course it made me realize that to truly capture the attention of your audience you have to put all your notions in there and go into depth of whatever it is you are talking about.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise anyone taking this course to not procrastinate. I stayed up l countless nights up to 3 a.m. just trying to finish a decent essay that I could turn in. That school day I would be really tired and falling asleep in my classes just because I did not prioritize my essay or essays as soon as I got home. Also, it is not wise to turn assignments in before revising them, you may find mistakes you will get marked down for or you may find you did not go into depth enough. Either way, revising is always recommended.
