    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Julie is an outstanding professor. She is so incredibly passionate about her class. She may cause the class to get behind other classes, but she makes sure you absolutely understand everything that is going on. She does get a little confusing when you ask her questions after class about the study guide or for clarification, but the pros definitely out weigh the cons. She does curve every single thing in this class; she understands this class is difficult and she just wants us to succeed. She'll keep telling everyone to drop the class but don't let that fool you.

    Course highlights:

I have gained a lot of information from this class. I have learned everything about everything at a molecular level of biology. I have learned about why caffeine is bad for you and why you get headaches from cutting out caffeine (at a molecular level). I have learned about genetics and the signaling pathways in our bodies. The lab is the funnest part, in my opinion. We transformed E.Coli Bacteria so that it can glow. How cool is that?! We also captured the rate of photosynthesis that happens at different watts of bulbs. Everything in class is so fascinating!

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Studying for this class is an understatement. I study every other day with a study group (excluding most but not all weekends) and I still have a B in the class (with the curve). There is A LOT to memorize and you can't just put it off until the night before the test. That is definitely setting yourself up to fail for this class. It takes a lot of diligent study time and hard work to succeed in this class
