    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course pushes students in a way that allows them to remember the information for more than just a test. Mr. Schauer teaches with such passion and enthusiasm, it is hard not to be equally as excited to learn from him.

    Course highlights:

I learned more than just how things happened, but WHY things happened in the history of the United States. I also gained extremely useful knowledge about digesting information to find what a question is truly asking and how to answer it to the best of my ability.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Everyday when you walk in be in the moment, ask questions, make sure you're truly understanding what is going on. It's worth the time and effort to thouroughly read each assignment because it will give you a better understanding of the subject. What you put into the class is what you will get out.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because even though it can be tough you go in depth of our history and you learn new techniques to study and take notes.

    Course highlights:

I am not good at history but i learned that if you truly are compassionate about what your teaching that the students will learn. My teacher loved teaching history and i actually learned new things about slavery. For example the slaves were ranked and had net value based on how they looked, gender, ability, age.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this class you have to listen and take thorough notes. Your notes have to be something that you will want to revisit though. Draw pictures and color code because then you can classify a time period with a color or picture.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Schauer is a great teacher that makes the most boring topics exciting. He can change your views on what is wrong and right and teach you how to teach yourself.

    Course highlights:

I cannot recall specific facts on topics from that many classes. Normally I forget what I learned. This time, I still forgot the specific facts, but I remembered the context. I understand more conversations about current events and how they relate to past events like Watergate and others.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the busy work early on. It helps retain the information learnt in depth later on. I got a 4 on the AP test without studying because I stayed on top of work and listened in class. If you want a 5 then study every night.
